Privacy
Your drafts stay private. Jenni does not use your writing to train models, and our upstream AI providers are contractually prohibited from training on Jenni user data.
FAQ ↓People use Jenni for work they do not want floating around: drafts, research notes, citations, class materials, manuscripts, and internal writing. The rule is simple. Your writing is private, and it is not training data.
Jenni does not use your drafts, prompts, or outputs to train models. We do not sell your writing, feed it into advertising systems, or hand it to providers so they can improve public models. When Jenni calls an upstream AI provider, it sends only the text needed to complete the action you asked for, and those providers are contractually prohibited from training on Jenni user data.
The short version
- Your drafts and prompts stay private to your workspace.
- Jenni does not sell your drafts or use them for advertising.
- Jenni sends only the content needed to complete the AI action you requested.
- Your writing is not used to train Jenni models.
- Your writing is not used to train upstream provider models.
- Our upstream providers are contractually obligated not to train on Jenni user data.
What gets sent when you use AI features
If you use autocomplete, chat, editing, outlining, or review tools, Jenni may send relevant text to an upstream model provider so that feature can return a result.
That can include:
- The text around your cursor
- The prompt or instruction you entered
- Selected text you asked Jenni to rewrite, explain, or expand
- Related document context needed to produce a useful answer
Jenni does not send your full account history just because you opened a document. It sends the minimum context needed for the specific request you made.
What does not happen
Using an AI feature does not give providers permission to learn from your writing. Jenni does not use your drafts, prompts, or outputs to train foundation models, and does not give model providers your drafts so they can improve their public systems. Provider access is limited to processing the request needed to return the result.
Jenni does not sell document content, use it for advertising, or turn it into a third-party data product.
Draft privacy inside your workspace
Your workspace may include:
- In-progress essays and papers
- Research notes
- Outlines
- Uploaded source excerpts
- Rewrites and generated suggestions
Jenni stores and processes that content so the product can work, but it is not treated as training data.
