- Autocomplete – Type
/in the chat input followed by the first few letters of your command name. A dropdown appears with matching prompts. Press Enter or click to insert. - Browse – Click the / button in the chat footer to open the full menu of saved prompts. Click any prompt to insert it into the chat input.
Once inserted, you can edit the prompt text before sending, or send it as-is.
Managing Prompts

- Edit a prompt by clicking the pencil icon next to it
- Delete a prompt by clicking the trash icon
- Search by name or content using the search field at the top of the manager
Rules and Constraints
- Command names must be unique across your account
- Prompts are private. Collaborators on a shared document cannot see or use your saved prompts.
- There is no limit to how many prompts you can save
Built-in PDF Prompts
When a PDF is attached to the chat, built-in prompts appear automatically in the slash menu. These include:
- Summarize this PDF – Generates a concise summary of the attached document
- What are the limitations? – Extracts the limitations or caveats discussed in the paper
Built-in prompts cannot be edited or deleted. They only appear when a PDF is attached.
Tips
- Use short command names. Single words work best:
/review,/expand,/cite,/outline. You can always elaborate in the prompt text itself. - Be specific in prompt text. The more detail you include, the more consistent the AI’s response will be across uses.
- Create prompts for each stage of your workflow. A prompt for drafting, one for editing, one for citation checks. Each saves time over the course of a long document.
Troubleshooting
Slash menu is not appearing
Type / followed by at least one letter. The menu requires a character after the slash to trigger the autocomplete dropdown.
A saved prompt is not showing in the menu
Verify that the prompt was saved by opening Manage from the / button. If it appears in the manager but not in autocomplete, check that you are typing the correct command name. Search is case-insensitive but must match the beginning of the name.
The / button is hidden on mobile
On mobile devices, the / button may not be visible in the chat footer. Type / directly into the chat input to access your saved prompts through autocomplete instead.
