Image Settings
Supported Formats
| Format | Supported |
|---|---|
| PNG | Yes |
| JPEG | Yes |
| WebP | Yes |
The maximum file size is 15 MB per image. Files exceeding this limit are rejected with an error message.
Positioning
Hover over an inserted image to reveal alignment controls. Three options are available:
- Align left — Image floats to the left margin
- Align center — Image centers within the content column (this is the default)
- Align right — Image floats to the right margin
Click the corresponding alignment button to reposition the image. The setting persists across sessions and exports.
Adding Captions
Hover over an image and click Add Caption. A text field appears below the image where you can type your caption.
Captions are plain text and support no additional formatting. If you clear a caption entirely, the caption field is removed automatically. Empty captions do not persist.
Using Images with AI
Hover over an image and click Ask AI. This attaches the image to the AI Chat panel, where you can ask questions about its content. The AI can describe the image, extract text from screenshots or scans, identify elements in charts and diagrams, and suggest alt text.
The image remains attached to the chat thread until you start a new conversation.
Deleting Images
Two methods:
- Hover and delete — Hover over the image and click the delete button (trash icon)
- Keyboard — Click the image to select it, then press
BackspaceorDelete
Deletion is reversible with Ctrl/Cmd + Z (undo) as long as you have not closed the document.
Mobile
On mobile devices, the hover toolbar is replaced by a three-dot menu that appears when you tap the image. The menu provides the same options: alignment, caption, Ask AI, and delete.
